Mantra, One of My Favorite Responsive WordPress Themes

Choosing the perfect theme can be one of the more time consuming steps in creating a new WordPress site.  I like to stick with a few favorite themes.  My new favorite for responsive themes with sliders is the Mantra theme by CryOut Creations.  Not only does it look great, but it is very easy to set up and customize.

One more thing, if you are using an SEO plugin (you should be using one), in your Mantra settings, go to Miscellaneous Settings and disable their seo settings.  Also under miscellaneous you’ll find a places to add custom css, custom javascript,  a favicon and other cool features.

The Mantra theme is free to use.   The developers have invested much time in its creation.  All they ask is for a credit to them in the footer.  Or simply donate $25 to their cause and they’ll send you directions for taking that out.  Sure you may be able to figure out how to remove that link yourself, but as the mom of a very talented open source programmer (works long hours creating free stuff for others to use), do something to show your appreciation.  I donated $25, and I’m spreading the word about their cool theme.

  1. Hi Heidi
Just wanted to say thank you for all the hard work you put into creating all the videos for the Weaver 2 theme. They have been very helpful. Oftentimes you buy a theme and the “tutorials” barely scratch the surface.
Good luck with your marketing career.
PS. Here’s hoping you can do a couple of videos for the Mantra theme above.

  2. Thanks Peter,
Yes, I remember one premium directory theme I bought which was a royal pain to set up and use. Their support simply referred you to their videos, each quite long like over 30 minutes.
Mantra is still quite new, changes coming, improving. No new videos yet for Mantra yet, maybe as it gets upgraded. I’ve found it quite easy to use and set up.

  3. Hi Heidi
If you have your homepage showing excerpts of posts, is it possible to have a thumbnail picture of the individual posts next to the excerpt?
    Many thanks for the help.

  4. Thanks for this Heidi! I am trying to get my wordpress website set up using the mantra theme. I want there to be a comment box on my blog and I have comments enabled, however, its not showing a comment box. Any suggestions? Have been trying to get this figured out for a long time, asked a number of people, etc, but so far, no one’s been able to figure it out. Thanks so much!

  5. Hmmm, I’ve not had that problem with Mantra. If you switch to another theme does the comment box show up? This is a great way to trouble shoot problems and to see whether it is a theme issue or not.
