Great question I got from Mickie yesterday:
I recently changed my WordPress theme to Yoko. I customized the header image and would love to be able to keep that look. But my research convinces me the way I made my pretty header image with the pretty text on it isn’t going to work for search engines.
My problem: How to get the blog title and tag line on my header image like it looks now so the search engines can find me? The Yoko theme automatically shows the blog title and tag above the header image.
Search Engines Don’t Read Graphic Text
Mickie is absolutely right. Search engines can’t read graphic text. Years back I’d use certain css code so the title text was visible to the search engines but not the rest of us. We saw the fancy graphic words.
Now some themes are smart and they will show the title tag as your blog’s name, with or without your titles in text. Many don’t. One of the great strength’s of WordPress is that you don’t have to know how to code to run a website. Cool thing is there is a plugin for that. My favorite seo plugin is WordPress SEO by Yoast. It fixes this issue for you and so much more. Here is how it fixes the title issue.
Thanks for the great question Mickie. You are doing great and paying attention to the important stuff. Search engines are great traffic generators.br>
